Who we are

OpenSky is where passion, relationships and commerce meet. We’re a dynamic team dedicated to making relationship commerce available to every person on the planet.

OpenSky was founded by John Caplan in April 2009. John is the former CEO of Ford Models and former President of the About.com Network. OpenSky's management team has best-in-class experience in distributed workforces from About.com and Ford Models; community from MeetUp; and commerce from Gilt Groupe and Target.

We're a mix of Internet veterans and young entrepreneurs. What we all have in common is that we're motivated, hardworking and sharp; we're not into egos but we are into meetings with pizza, City Bakery chocolate chip cookies and happy hour.

How we work

At OpenSky, our beliefs guide our business. We believe that shopping should be fulfilling, inspiring, interactive and fun. We believe in innovation, risk-taking, collaboration and open communication. And we believe that a job should not be work. We work hard because we believe in what we’re building. We work as a team, but we value initiative, each of us taking responsibility and ownership over our piece of the puzzle.

There are no office politics at OpenSky. No one fights over the corner office, because there are no offices; we work together in an open environment. We believe that technology should make people more connected, not less. And we like each other. So as much as we love our computers, we get up and talk to each other.
